Vets
Mark Scott (Principal)

Mark
qualified in South Africa in 1992. He has been in England for the last
13 years, having worked in Essex and West Sussex before moving to Alton to
become the sole principal of Amery Veterinary Group in 2006. He enjoys
all aspects of small animal practice and the challenges of running a small
business. He is married, has two children and owns three cats called
Darwin, Spirit and Aslan and a dog called Gwen.
Louise Fletcher
Louise graduated from University of Bristol in 1983. For the past 17 years
she has been living near Alton and working in a small animal practice near
Southampton. Louise is married with two teenage daughters. Some of you may
recognize Louise as she coaches swimming at Alton and Bordon in her spare
time.
Philip Du Plessis
Philip graduated in 2004 from the same university as Mark, and worked in a
veterinary clinic in Beacon Bay, South Africa before coming to England to
join Amery Vets in June 2008.
At home in South Africa he has 3 dogs - Matilda, Morpheus and Domino, and
cats Melanie and Streepies (meaning stripes).
Katja Wagner
Katja is the newest addition to our veterinary staff, having joined us in
August 2008. She is originally from Austria but has been working in England
for the past four years. Katja owns a number of rescue animals which she has
gained over her years in practice.
Sarah Pettit
Sarah qualified from Bristol in 1979 and has worked in various practices with
both large and small animals. As a farmer’s daughter animals have always
been a big part of her life, and her present menagerie consists of two cats,
two rabbits and one dog. Sarah works for us on a part-time basis.
Qualified Nurses
Jo Gardner
Jo
is Head Nurse for the practice and is based at the Bordon surgery. Jo also
oversees the training of our student veterinary nurses. She has a cat called
Midge, and two dogs - Moose the Scottish Terrier and Arka the border terrier.
Emma Ricketts
Emma is Senior Nurse at our Alton branch and is also responsible for the training
and assessment of student nurses. Emma has a black labrador called Dylan and
two cats, Spud and Little Stevie.
Lucy Roberts-Bates
Lucy is currently on maternity leave, with twins due in November 2008.
Kate Messenger
Kate
qualified in 2000 and joined Amery Vets in June 2008. Kate has two dogs called
Dylan and April.
Catherine Miller
Catherine qualified as a veterinary nurse in August 2008. She has one year
to complete of her degree course and will be working for us on a part-time
basis while she continues her studies. We are very proud of Catherine, who
started with us on a voluntary basis at the age of 17 before she started her
veterinary nurse training.
Student Veterinary Nurses
Jessica Craven
Jess
has a jack russell called Stig. She is based at our Alton and Bordon branches
and has just completed her second year of training.
Emma Marshall
Emma is based at our Bordon branch, and has just started her second year of
training.
Alice Murphy
Alice has worked for us part-time since giving birth to her daugher two years
ago. Alice lives with a collection of cats!
Rosy Shirley
Rosy
joined us in July 2008, having done work experience with us in the past. Rosy
has a springer/labrador cross called Holly.
Amie Griffin
Amie is the lastest trainee to join us; she started with us in August 2008.
Amie's previous experience includes work in a zoo, so she should find work
with us very different!
Administrative Staff
Donne Scott
Donne
is our practice manager and oversees the running of the practice. She grew
up on a dairy farm in South Africa and as a child always wanted to be a vet.
Donne is kept busy when not at work by her two children, Daniel and Aerin,
Gwen the labradoodle and her three cats.
Jan Kiley
Jan runs reception at our Alton surgery and is responsible for debt collection,
advertising and general administrative duties. She is a qualified teacher
who has decided she would rather work with animals than children! Jan has
four golden retrievers who enjoy coming to work with her, and cats Harvey,
Hovis and Henry. She also has an elderly ferret and guineapig.
Chris Barker
Chris, also known as 'the foreign lady' is Canadian and is one of our longest
standing members of staff. Chris makes sure that the reception at Bordon runs
smoothly and is always available to answer your queries, especially relating
to Pet Passports, on which she is something of an expert!
Cheryl Britland
Cheryl
works part-time for us following the birth of her two children. She is kept
very busy at home with puppy Cookie and her two cats.
